Meeting with LIFE Riparian Forests at World Wide Fund Bulgaria

On the invitation of the LIFE Riparian Forests project coordinator, the HESOFF project delegation visited on 17 July 2018 the headquarters of the World Wide Fund Bulgaria in Sofia. World Wide Fund Bulgaria is currently implementing a LIFE Riparian Forests project – “Restoration and conservation of the habitat type * 91Е0 in Natura 2000 sites and model areas in Bulgaria” (LIFE13 NAT / BG / 000801), which overall objective is to improve the conservation status of the priority habitat 91E0*: Alluvial forests.

During the meeting, the representative of the HESOFF project and the Institute of Aviation – Hubert Skoneczny presented a lecture  entitled “Life + HESOFF LIFE11 ENV / PL / 000459, Remote Sensing Division and operational use of multispectral images”, which aimed at promoting the Remote Sensing Division and the Institute of Aviation, as well as discuss the technologies, developed methods and results in the HESOFF project.

On the same day the representative of the HESOFF project, Hubert Skoneczny, attended the meeting at the Executive Forestry Agency. The meeting aimed at promoting the Institute of Aviation, the Remote Sensing Division and the HESOFF project for a wider group of recipients, composed of specialists in the field of forestry.

Employees involved in LIFE Riparian Forests and employees of the Forestry Executive Agency were deeply interested in wider cooperation with the Institute of Aviation in the context of mutual implementation of future, potential projects. Currently, closer discussions are being held with representatives of WWF Bulgaria, aimed at developing and jointly submitting a new project under the LIFE European Commission Instrument.
